Real Madrid have already made back over one quarter of the reported €89 million they paid for Colombian sensation James Rodríguez, thanks to sales of replica jerseys.
Euromericas Sport Marketing and The Telegraph report that Madrid have sold approximately 345,000 replica ‘James’ jerseys since he was unveiled at the Bernabéu 48 hours ago. This equates to sales of around $35 million.
Euromerics went on to say that players such as Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo and David Beckham never came close to selling this amount of shirts when they joined the club.
Real Madrid are hoping that James Rodríguez can match Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of shirt sales – the Portuguese forward has sold over one million shirts since arriving at Madrid.
