The Copa America Centenario 2016 draw took place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Sunday. The event also served served as the stage for Nike to unveil the Ordem Ciento, the official match ball.
This summer’s tournament is historic with it being the 100th anniversary and featuring the most teams at any tournament with 16. The bold design honors the tournament’s past while celebrating the future.
“We’re excited to create the official ball of the Copa America Centenario and to be able to bring Nike innovation to what promises to be an incredible spectacle,” said Andrea Perez, General Manager of Nike Soccer North America.
The 12-panel ball comes in a bold red and black colorway. The design combines a more traditional black geometric pentagon design with more modern brush strokes of the red. The Copa American Centenario 2016 logo is in gold while the Nike Swoosh is made up of narrow black and white lines.
A true and consistent flight is key with any ball design and the Ordem Ciento uses Nike newest innovation, Nike Aerow Trac grooves, to grip and channel air provide great results with each strike of the ball.
