PSV Claim Dutch Super Cup

Second-half strikes from Danko Lazovic and Dirk Marcellis ensured PSV Eindhoven won their eighth Dutch Super Cup victory on Saturday.
A Feyenoord side shorn of the talents of Ron Vlaar, Roy Makaay, Karim El Ahmadi and Tim Vincken did well to hold out for 45 minutes but PSV upped their game in the second period to canter to victory in the traditional season curtain-raiser.
Lazovic scored the opener 10 minutes after the break while Marcellis wrapped up victory in the 67th minute to give new PSV coach Huub Stevens a winning start in his first competitive outing.
A quiet first period only produced one clear-cut opportunity for reigning champions PSV, Edison Mendez drilling an effort over the bar from 10 yards on the half-hour.
PSV picked up the pace after the break and almost broke through the Feyenoord backline after 51 minutes when Nordin Amrabat's low cross was deflected towards goal by Feyenoord defender Tim De Cler only for Henk Timmer to make the stop.
But the good fortune dried up for Gertjan Verbeek's troops just four minutes later when Serbia international Lazovic found himself in space and headed past Timmer from close range.
And the Eindhoven outfit doubled their advantage midway through the half when Mike Zonneveld's corner was fired home by the alert Marcellis.
Feyenoord almost pulled one back after 72 minutes but Michell Schep's close-range strike was parried by Andreas Isaksson.
