Barcelona are following up an extremely successful 2014/15 campaign – winning the treble with La Liga, Copa del Rey, and UEFA Champions League titles – in style. The Catalan giants are comfortably on top of La Liga and positioning themselves for title runs in the cup competitions. Could this season be even better than last?
The success on the field and long history of the club has made the Barcelona jersey popular in the stands and out on the streets as fans around the globe support and celebrate the Blaugrana. Barcelona’s 2015/16 away and third jerseys have made the biggest splash.
The 2015/16 away jersey has gained added popularity adopting the gold and red colors of the Catalan flag, the Senyera. The simple solid gold front with the Barcelona badge, Nike Swoosh, and Qatar Airways logos stands in stark contrast to the 4 vertical red stripes and dark blue Unicef logo on the lower back.
ESPN FC’s Ariél Fernandez, a die-hard Barcelona fan, hit the streets with World Soccer Shop, Kicks to the Pitch and GrlaFutbol to show-off these Barca looks.
“I’m a Barcelona fan, forever, for a fact,” Fernandez told Kicks to the Pitch during the photo shoot. “I only seriously keep up with two teams (i.e. watching every week) Barcelona and PSG. And to be honest PSG is a recent thing because Zlatan is my favorite player…Generally if there’s a city I like, I find a reason to be a fan of their team. I’m national-team-less at the moment, but I really like watching the European giants play, because it always feels like you’re watching history being made.”
The 2015/16 Barcelona Third or Cup jersey provides a new look in light blue rather than the traditional dark blue. The lighter cooler helps it stand out in mid-week cup matches which are almost always played under the lights at night.
The narrow dark blue stripe on each side of the jersey is carried over from the away jersey and ties in nicely with the dark blue gradient sleeve cuff.
Hit the street with your own Barcelona style. World Soccer Shop has a great selection of gear from the Blaugrana.
