German giants Bayern Munich will not be further strengthening their squad this winter, according to general manager Uli Hoeness.
He told the Suddeutsche Zeitung that the arrival of Landon Donovan on loan from Los Angeles Galaxy will be the one and only new face when the squad returns for training in the new year.
"We have sat down this week and decided that we will not be signing or selling anybody this winter, as it stands today," he said.
Not only does Hoeness, by making this statement, hope to end rumours linking his side with Russian duo Anatoli Timoschuk and Andrei Arshavin, as well as Stuttgart's Mario Gomez, he has brought an end to speculation claiming Lukas Podolski and Toni Kroos will be leaving.
Today's Bild newspaper claims Kroos has received an offer to join Chelsea on loan until the end of the season.
But Hoeness has closed the door on a loan or sale of the 18-year-old, claiming the interest in a move "was all his doing", but that selling him had "never been an issue".
Donovan's arrival has been confirmed, but Bayern hope to keep him beyond mid-March, when the American striker is due to return to the United States for the start of the Major League Soccer season.
