Bayern standing firm on Ribery
2009-07-17 22:41:00
General manager Uli Hoeness insists Franck Ribery will be at Bayern Munich next season and is refusing to listen to offers for the Frenchman.

Real Madrid are keen to make Ribery their fourth galactico signing of the summer following the arrivals of Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema and reports suggest they have put in a 55million euro bid.

However, Hoeness remains firm that the 26-year-old is not for sale.

"I have never been worried," he told Spanish sports daily AS. "Neither me nor anyone.

"There has not been a Ribery saga right from the beginning. What they say outside is another thing.

"I can assure you that Madrid never made a formal offer. We never wanted to listen to Madrid because, for us, Ribery has not been for sale since the beginning.

"It's another lie that I was with (Ribery's agent) Alain Migliaccio in Munich on Monday,

"I also assure you that I have not met Migliaccio these past few weeks. We haven't even spoken on the phone.

Hoeness added: "He might have been in Munich on Monday but neither (chairman Karl-Heinz) Rummenigge nor me saw him. Maybe Ribery did.

"The last time we saw each other was at Barcelona when we went there in the Champions League.

"And yes it's true that there they told us Madrid wanted to sign him but since that moment we already said that we didn't want to sell him.

"And all of the rest that has been talked about are lies. The reality is that we didn't even want to listen to an offer from Madrid."

Madrid continue to be relentless in their pursuit of Ribery despite Bayern's repeated insistence the France midfielder is not for sale.

And yesterday Hoeness slammed the Primera Division giants, threatening to report them to FIFA.

"There everyone is talking about the transfer of Ribery," he said. "Especially (Zinedine) Zidane: 'Blah, blah, blah...' And (general director Emilio) Butragueno... and everyone.

"But it seems to us a lack of respect from Madrid. The only people who have the right to talk about this are (president) Florentino Perez and (director general) Jorge Valdano, and if they continue on this path we will report the case to FIFA because Ribery has a contract with Bayern.

"Let it be very clear, we will report them to FIFA if they continue like this. This is not the way to do things.

"If we haven't done so yet it's because we want to maintain a good relationship with Madrid and because of respect we have for Mr Florentino (Perez)."
