Wales put in a solid defensive effort and appeared to be closing in on a well earned point. In the first half the home side only mustered one shot on goal, a long range Michael Ballack effort.
The match opened up in the second half, and Trochowski finally broke through in the 72nd minute with a curling shot from just outside the area that Wales goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey could do nothing to stop.
In Group 4’s other match, Russia defeated Finland 3-0.
