In an effort to raise funds and awareness about breast cancer, Brazilian football club Flamengo and technical sponsor adidas designed a special breast cancer awareness jersey. A limited edition of 550 numbered jerseys were made with money from sales going to INCA – National Cancer Institute José Alencar Gomes da Silva.
The pink jersey features a pink crew collar with the 3-Stripes in white running down the top of the shoulders and side of the sleeves. The jersey has a wide band that runs around the bottom of the jersey with the limited edition numbering on the lower right side along with a breast cancer awareness ribbon and the club crest.
The breast cancer awareness ribbon is also printed on the center of the jersey in between an embroidered club crest which includes the ‘Limited Edition’ text over the heart and adidas Performance logo on the right chest. Flamengo’s front-of-the-jersey sponsor, CAIXA, logo is on the center of the jersey.
“It is an honor to participate and help in the awareness of this cause, carrying the message of October Rose into the field. Together we will make history! “Said Bruno Spindel, marketing director of the Rio de Janeiro club.
Coritiba used the same silhouette on their club’s breast cancer awareness jersey also made by adidas.
