Brazilian giants Flamengo unveiled their 2015/16 home jersey by technical sponsor adidas last week and the new look made an on-field debut in the derby against Fluminense in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A on Sunday at the Maracana.
The new jersey stays true to tradition with the famous red and black hoops although this year’s look uses slightly thinner stripes
But this jersey has some unique features that make it stand out. adidas has included a white waistline and the adidas 3-Stripes that run from the black crew collar down the black shoulder panel are in a platinum color. The jersey has a black side panel under the arms.
The CRF club logo is over the heart and the adidas Performance logo on the right chest both in white with ‘Manto Sagrado’ printed on the back under the collar in black.

“Flamengo’s fans always refer to the jersey using (‘Manto Sagrado’). We only applied a popular bleachers’ expression to the red and black kit – a true homage to one of the world’s most important clubs” says Luiz Gaspar, adidas Brazil football clubs director.
The jersey did not bring the club much luck as they lost the debut 3-2 to Fluminese and currently sit in 18th place of the 20 team league.
“Once again, adidas must be recognized for its high standards,” Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, Flamengo’s President said at the release. “The new home kit is beautiful and honors our history. I’m sure it will bring us a lot of luck”.
The Flamengo 15/16 Home Soccer Jersey will be available at World Soccer Shop.
