FC Porto have unveiled their New Balance home kit for the upcoming 2016/17 season. The Dragões take inspiration from one of their most glorious moments: the 1987 European Title.
Porto beat none other than Bayern Munich to claim their first ever European Cup. The Portuguese side recovered from a 0-1 deficit and scored twice in the final 15 minutes to come back and win the game and put their hands on the coveted trophy.
The new jersey is a modern reinterpretation of the one they had back then, with a classy polo-cut collar and just two vertical white stripes on white background. A bold pattern is applied to the stripes, with some extra blue appearing on the neck, sides and sleeves to create a more eye-catching look.
The FC Porto crest is featured over the heart, with NB and MEO logos escorting it. The club’s name is placed on the top back, with Super Bock logo and a white space for the players’ names and numbers below it. “Porto! Porto! Porto!”, an extract from the club’s anthem, is seen on the inner neck and hem.
“I really like the new equipment,” said midefielder André André. “It’s an honour to wear these iconic stripes and realise how they were designed to retain the appearance of a modern look. I’m sure the fans will love it.”
