Catalan and world soccer giants FC Barcelona are ushering in a new era with the hiring of manager Luis Enrique and the launch of their 2014/15 home kit from Nike.
After going trophy less during a turbulent 2013/14 season, Barca hinted at a new beginning by using the club’s famed youth academy, La Masia, as the setting for their sole picture showing its players in the new kit. In the mix are superstars such as Lionel Messi, Neymar and Xavi along with Sergi Samper, Edgar Ié and Jean Marie Dongou Tsafack from FCB’s youth and B sides.
The new kit takes the latest spin on Barcelona’s iconic stripes with what Nike calls a bolder look featuring two red and two blue stripes on the front and back of the jersey. An insert of the Catalan flag, La Senyera, appears with the kits v-neck opening while the year of Barca’s founding, 1899, is printed on a pennant on its inside neck. Finally, the text “Barca” is printed on the outer upper back area.
FC Barcelona’s 2014/15 Nike uniformed is completed by dark blue shorts with red side stripes and blue and red socks.
The new kit will surely be on show when the former European champions tour the United States this summer after the World Cup.
