The Carolina Panthers have taken the National Football League by storm this year finishing the season 15-1 and are the favorite to win Super Bowl 50. Leicester City have had an equally impressive 2015 avoiding relegation to close-out the 2014/15 campaign and then bolting to the top of the English Premier League table in the first half of 2015/16.
And to think both clubs were wallowing in mediocrity last year.

Fittingly located in the ‘Queen City’ the Panthers received a package from England a few days ago. Leicester City sent the NFL team some jerseys customized with the names of quarterback Cam Newton, linebacker Luke Kuechly, cornerback Josh Norman, and kicker Graham Gano in an effort to show support for their fellow underdog. Carolina was quick to respond to the incredible gesture. “It’s kind of crazy,” Josh Norman, wearing the jersey to a media event, told ESPN. “They just wanted to show support and I’m showing support by wearing it for them. It’s pretty cool we’ve got support over there in England.”
The respect the Foxes have for the Panthers is mutual as both acknowledge the grit and determination needed to succeed in the respective leagues. What makes this truly crazy is the giants Manchester United, Chelsea, Dallas Cowboys, and Green Bay Packers are all looking up to these two teams this season.

“What the Carolina Panthers have done this season has been fantastic, it’s a really great story,” Leicester’s high-scoring #9, Jamie Vardy, told the club’s official website. “They’ve shown what can be achieved with hard work. I also saw that their kicker, Graham Gano posted a picture in a City shirt on Twitter, which was fantastic to see, especially as he wears no.9 too. He’s got a great right foot! We’ve got quite a few NFL fans in the squad so I’m sure the lads will be supporting the Panthers for their big game on Sunday.”

“Carolina have had an incredible season,” defender Christian Fuchs added. “Like us they ended last season really well and again, like us, some people didn’t expect them to do what they’ve done this season, even after the great start they had. They’ve done it in style too. Cam Newton has been unstoppable again but I’ve enjoyed watching Josh Norman too – he’s been fantastic. I guess as a cornerback, his position is as close to mine as you can get in the NFL.”
The Panthers host the Arizona Cardinals in the Conference Championship at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday, January 24 on FOX. Leicester City hosts Stoke City at King Power Stadium on Saturday, January 23.
It will be fun to watch the two Cinderella stories unfold, and who knows maybe the teams will be able to pull off the once unthinkable and celebrate as world champions together wearing each other’s jerseys in true bromance fashion.
