Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch has credited manager Harry Redknapp with his improved form since his summer move from Liverpool.
Crouch struggled to get playing time at Anfield, particularly after the arrival of Spanish sensation Fernando Torres, but he has been scoring freely since his move to Fratton Park.
The England international said: "I wanted to move on because I had faith in my own ability. And I knew if I played every week I could show I was worthy to be in the England set-up.
"A lot of this is down to Harry Redknapp. I said from the start, upon re-signing for Portsmouth, that I've played for Harry before and I felt he got the best out of me.
"I don't know how he does it, but he builds up players' confidence, telling you every day you can be a world-beater and, eventually, you start to believe it.
"Harry's an honest fella. If you're crap, he'll tell you, and if you're playing well, he'll tell you that, too."
