Dave Kitson says he is excited by the energy at Stoke this season and keen to be a part of the clubs proud history.

Kitson joined Stoke in a record signing move from Reading and remains convinced the Potters have the ability to survive in the Premiership.

The former Cambridge United striker has experience with a new team in the leaque, having been promoted with Reading back in 2007. The Royals went on to survive their first season in the top flight and Kitson sees no reason why he Championship runner-up last season can't do the same.

"When we went up with Reading nobody knew what to expect so we just cracked on and had a great time," Kitson told The Sentinel.

"It is the same here and it is amazing to see the similarities between the two clubs. There is the freshness to that first year in the Premier League and an excitement and buzz around town.

"It is amazing and I like being part of those moments in a club's history.

"To me they are just as important, relatively, as Manchester United going for the league every year.

"It is a privilege to be part of something like this."
