Hull Won't Pay Too Much For Players
2009-01-05 16:20:00

Hull City chairman Paul Duffen says the club will not pay inflated prices for player in the January transfer window.

Duffen insists he will not be rushed into making a signing, and will instead wait to make a good deal.

He said: "The timing of making a move for a player is crucial because you don't want to do it as a buyer, you want somebody else to be a seller.

"If we can bring people in when they are surplus to requirements elsewhere, it is a better transaction for us."

Duffen added: "Right now you've got a situation where both our permitted loan slots are taken up (Marlon King from Wigan and Paul McShane from Sunderland), which means that if that stays the same way we can't loan players from English clubs and we'll have to look abroad to bring any loanees in.

"We have been monitoring players persistently throughout this season that we think might be of interest to join Hull City either now or in the summer and we are looking at positions now that we feel we might want to strengthen."
