Wigan striker Henri Camara believes he deserves a new contract at Wigan.
Camara spent an unsuccessful season on loan at West Ham last season, but goals in his last two appearances have made the Senegal international confident of a new deal.
Camara said: "I am keen to sign a new contract with Wigan. We have not yet had talks but I certainly hope to stay and I want to work hard to make sure I stay at the club.
"I feel in the right kind of shape to keep playing Premiership football.
"I have always liked playing for Wigan, the fans shout my name but who knows what the future holds.
"I feel I need to make up for lost time at my age and I have to view the last couple of years as being wasted.
"What happened at West Ham last season destroyed my confidence levels. I did not get the breaks there.
"Football is a confidence thing and I am a goalscorer, that is what I go on the field to do.
"It was not really my decision to go on loan but I took my chance and it was a mistake.
"I came back to Wigan and I have enjoyed working under Steve. I just wanted a chance."
