Newcomer Bobby Zamora came close to opening for the Craven Cottage outfit in the opening minutes, but his left-footed volley just dipped over the bar.
Davies then put the visitors ahead with a superb finish from the edge of the area in the 17th minute.
Another newcomer John Paintsil also had an interesting afternoon as he came close to conceding a penalty with a late challenge on the edge of the area. The former West Ham defender was however let off by the referee.
The Blues meanwhile battled for chances in the first half and only came close on the hour mark when Mark Schwarzer was forced into a superb save after a free-kick.
In the 77th minute Sebastian Larsson finally brought the home side level when he latched onto Cameron Jerome's through ball and drove it past Schwarzer to earn a share of the spoils.
