Phil Gartside has praised Bolton club owner Eddie Davies for his unwavering support of the club and says the club would definitely not be where it is today were it not for his continued efforts.

The Wanderes Chairman was speaking at the BWSA social evening and publically thanked the clubs most influential fan for all he had done to make the Trotters into the club they are today.

"On the subject of investors, we're privileged to have an owner who has committed over GBP50m because it's more than I could have expected

"It's no small thanks to Eddie that we are where we are. He's not closed the cheque book by any means, but if you look at how much he has put in compared to the past then it is fantastic support. Without him I don't think we'd be at the Reebok.

"We are in a good position because we have an owner who's a local guy and wants to see the club do well. He cares, and he's a supporter too, so we are in very good shape to go forward."
