Carson will play for Albion at Stoke on Saturday bidding to erase the memory of his latest England nightmare.

The former Liverpool goalkeeper's comical mix up with England captain John Terry handed Germany an equaliser in Berlin before Terry's late winner.

To make matters worse for Carson it was his first England appearance since he gifted Croatia a goal in the vital Euro 2008 qualifier at Wembley.

But Mowbray is convinced Carson will not suffer any after effects when Albion bid to climb off the foot of the Premier League table at Stoke.

Mowbray, who spent £3.25million to sign Carson from Liverpool in the summer, said: "I have spoken to Scott and he hasn't made a big issue of it.

"These kind of things happen in a football match and great credit to John Terry for his reaction to it after the game.

"To stand in front of the cameras after the game and say it was his fault is a great credit to him.

"As an experienced defender maybe he should clear those situations. But I am not getting carried away by what happened. Let's move on.

"It was a friendly between England and Germany. The next game coming up for us is at Stoke.

"Scott will just get on with his job here at Albion. I am not really bothered so long as he performs for Albion and I will judge him how he plays against Stoke.

"We have recently had a period where we have conceded quite a few goals against some of the top teams in the league.

"How many do I put down to Scott? To be fair, not too many and I think he is bearing up very well.

"I've spoken to him and his confidence appears to be very high. He appears very positive and just wants to get on with his job. It is definitely not an issue with me.

"I am only interested what he does Monday to Friday and on Saturday afternoon. He will get all the support he needs from me so long as he works hard and keeps producing good form."

Albion have lost five of their last six games, taking just one point from a possible 18.

Three of the matches were against Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea and although Stoke might not be as glamorous a name, Mowbray knows they will pose a massive test.

He added: "They are the same threat as everyone else. They have won four games at home which is very impressive.

"They are physical, big and very well organised and deserve a great deal of credit for their commitment.

"The likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Aston Villa have all found it difficult against them. I'm sure that we will find it difficult as well."

Albion will be without midfielder James Morrison due to the knee injury he suffered against Chelsea last weekend.
