Wolves fans the best around - Zubar
2009-10-20 19:11:00
Wolves defender Ronald Zubar claims the Molineux faithful are the loudest and most passionate fans he has ever encountered in his career.

But the 24-year-old has revealed how he can wow the Molineux masses, after becoming an avid student of the game in his early weeks at the club.

Plucked from Marseille for £2.5million in the summer, Zubar has spent his formative weeks in England studying the tempo of the game, which the player reckons is so different to France, as well as learning the language.

He told the Express and Star: "The fans have been great to me even before I was playing. The Wolves fans follow the team so well home and away. They seem like the best fans in the country to me and I want to thank them for the support they have given me.

"I also want to thank my team-mates and all the staff who have helped me. It's been a case of adapting and learning how to defend in the English game and getting in the right positions, because it's so different to France.

"It was hard but I was able to watch the first few games and see what it was like in the Premier League. The game is very quick over here.

"What is it you say over here? - it's box to box - and that's what it's like with games going from end-to-end.

"There are probably more tactics involved in France, but here it's quicker and you never stop."

Having made his debut and proved he has the capabilities for the Premier League, the summer signing is eager to build on his opening performance.

Zubar said: "I enjoyed the game and feel it went well but am not completely happy, because there were a couple of times in the second half when the winger got behind me and one of those was for the goal.

"But it was my first game and I'll get better for the next one."
