Sunderland manager Roy Keane is reportedly planning an approach for Manchester United forward Louis Saha.
Saha is eager to fight for his place at Old Trafford but the Black Cats boss is keen to snatch the French attacker from his former club.
However, with Sir Alex Ferguson attempting to bring Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham Hotspur, Saha would most likely be surplus to the Red Devils' requirements.
The 29-year-old was also linked with a return to his former club Fulham, as well as receiving interest from Bolton and Roma.
But reports are strongly suggesting that Keane, who was part of the United squad during their glory years in the 1990s, is aiming to bring Saha in as a replacement for the injured Kenwyne Jones.
Saha would also bring in some much-needed experience to the Black Cats' attack, which consists of youngsters the likes of Anthony Stokes (19), Roy O'Donovan (22) and Michael Chopra (24).
