Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce expects veteran England striker Emile Heskey to be fit for the opening game of the season at West Ham United on Saturday.
The striker picked up a thigh injury in a pre-season friendly against Utrecht on Sunday. Bruce said: "Emile jarred his leg and felt a twinge in his thigh.
"It looks like nothing more than a niggle, but I took him off as a precautionary measure. I'm not overly concerned about it."
