Klinsmann: Podolski Going Nowhere
2008-07-11 12:30:00

In a move to end speculation over Lukas Podolski's future, Bayern Munich coach Jurgen Klinsmann has vowed to help the striker improve his game.

In a move to end speculation over Lukas Podolski's future, Bayern Munich coach Jurgen Klinsmann has vowed to help the striker improve his game.

Since his arrival the 23-year old has failed to make an impact at the Allianz Arena, scoring only none goals in two seasons, and is now keen to make a move to club that can promise him first-team football.

However, despite Podolski dropping hints that he is ready to make his return to former club Cologne, Klinsmann maintains the youngster is not going anywhere.

"Lukas has two years to go on his contract with us so there are no questions to be answered. I'll go to great lengths to make sure Lukas feels happy at Bayern," Klinsmann told Bayern's official website.

Klinsmann and Podolski know each other from the time Klinsmann spent as coach of the German national team and Klinsmann is determined to help the Germany international step up is game - and the former striker admits that Podolski has been played out of position.

"I helped him a lot when I was in charge of the national team and I know him well as a character and a sportsman. I know how to deal with him and I think we'll get a great deal out of him in the future," he said.

"I don't regard Lukas as a wide player, but as a central striker, probably playing off a target man, but definitely in the centre

"He scores his goals in and around the box, not from the left wing," added Klinsmann.
