Blackburn striker Jason Roberts has revealed he has held talks over extending his contract at Ewood Park beyond 2010.
The 30-year-old is eager to secure a long-term deal with Rovers after signing a four-year deal in 2006.
Roberts had a transfer request turned down last January after a lack of first-team opportunities, but the forward is now keen to tie up his future.
He said: "We have been having conversations and hopefully something will be concluded sooner rather than later.
"From my point of view, I am happy at the club, we have a great bunch of lads and looking forward to an exciting season.
"My contract does not run out until 2010 but I see no reason to leave and so would love to sort something out for longer.
"Early talks went well and we will be meeting again soon to get all the details sorted hopefully."
