England's 2018 World Cup bid has received a boost following the news they will have the support of South Africa.
The Football Association are hoping to fend off rivalry from the likes of Australia and Russia in order to hold the tournament in 10 years' time.
And as South Africa prepare to host the 2010 finals, Danny Jordaan, head of his country's FA, has pledged his support after building a good relationship with the English FA while competing to host the last World Cup.
Jordaan is also in charge of South Africa's organising committee and he believes the passion for football in England would create an excellent competition.
"We were bidding against England in 2006 and the strange thing is because of that we became very close with people at the FA," Jordaan said in The People.
"They haven't offered us specific help for this World Cup (2010), but I think they are now focusing on their bid for 2018 - and we will support them in that.
"England would be a great host for 2018. They have the history and tradition and an incredible passion amongst their supporters.
"I think many people would want to see England stage another World Cup."
