Air Emirates announced today that they were extended their jersey sponsorship of AC Milan. The extension will see the Dubai-based airline on the front of the Serie A side’s jerseys through the 2019/2020 season with a reported guaranteed payment of $106 million with the potential of $125 with bonuses.
The new deal will be critical in helping the Rossoneri return to their championship form. The club has struggled the past seasons finishing 8th last campaign and in 6th place currently. The goal of the club if to return to the top of the Serie A table and once again qualify for the Champions League.
“Clearly we have to try and get back in the Champions League as soon as possible,” AC Milan’s Vice-President and joint-CEO Barbara Berlusconi said at the announcement. “All of our efforts are focused on this objective.”
The extension of the jersey sponsorship could be the next step in a closer partnership with some reports hinting that Emirates could be involved in helping to develop a new stadium for A.C. Milan, similar to how they helped with Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.
The current deal worth approximately $14 million per year was set to end at the end of this season.
