Derby County released their 2015/16 home jersey last week. After a hard fought campaign that saw the Rams finish in 8th place in The Championship, the club’s official technical sponsor, Umbro, has gone with a retro look for the coming campaign.
The 15/16 jersey was inspired by the Umbro jerseys of the late 1970’s and 80’s. The jersey is simple, yet powerful. It features the classic white of Derby County with a slightly off white diamond pattern on the front and back of the jersey.
To fit the retro theme, the collar was designed after the 1970s jerseys of old. The back half of the collar is solid black while the front of the v-neck is black/white/black with equal widths of each color.
‘The Rams’ is proudly displayed on the back of the jersey in bold underneath the collar. ‘Umbro’ is printed in black on both sleeves.
Derby County’s main corporate sponsor, Just Eat, which is a web-based intermediary between takeout restaurants and their customers, stands out with a bright red against its white background. The Umbro symbol is etched in black on the right chest while the famous Derby County ram is on the left.
The kit is completed with plain black Umbro pants and black socks, each having white strips to add more flare. All in all, the kit balances the classic Derby County look with the latest Umbro technology.
