One of the traditional powers of Major League Soccer revealed their kits ahead of the new season. Four-time MLS Cup champion DC United unveiled its bold new home and away kits for a private event for season ticket holders in Washington DC. With less than a month to go before the start of the 2015 MLS season, DC United is the first of the latest wave of new kits coming, as Jersey Week approaches.
The home jersey is a flat black featuring the adidas three stripes streaming from the shoulders. The cuffs are highlighted in red to create a unique but clean finish. The new MLS logo can be found on boths sleeves, while the DC United logo is featured on the front left side of the chest.
The away jersey is a striking white and red, with some very nice features and some subtle black details. The collar is red, in a v-shape. The most notable of details is on the neckline inside the collar, with the chant “Vamos United Esta Noche Tenemos Que Ganar” (Let’s Go United, Tonight We Have To Win). The chant has been a stable, often associated with one of the oldest supporter groups in the league, the Barra Brava. The back of the collar has the eagle from the crest, in black. The adidas three-stripes coming on the sleeves are red, with thick sleeve cuffs in the same color taking up the inner half. The new MLS logos are on both sleeves, in black, red and white.
The chest has red as the top, with white lines, filing in a pattern that transitions into white in a tonal gradient. The badge has a laminated black and white shine effect with miniature eagles, with four silver stars over it. The adidas logo and Leidos sponsor are in black. The hem of the shirt has a thick red stripe circling only the back of the jersey. The kit will come complete with white shorts and socks with red adidas stripes on both.
