D.C. United and Leidos announced that they were extending their partnership that will see the national security, health, and engineering solutions company continue to be the front-of-the-jersey sponsor for the Black-and-Red through the 2018 Major League Soccer season.
“We are honored to extend our partnership with Leidos,” said Jason Levien, D.C. United’s Managing General Partner. “We thank Roger Krone and the 18,000 employees of Leidos for their continued support and collaboration, and we look forward to working together toward continued success, both on and off of the field, as we head into our new home at Buzzard Point.”

The original contract called for a 50% increase with an extension but that was not confirmed. The initiral contract was rumored to pay out $3 million per year. Reports are saying an increase was included with the extension.
The Reston, Virginia based firm took over the jersey sponsorship from Volkswagen in February, 2014. The initial contract was through 2016 but with an option for a 2-year extension.
In addition to the jersey sponsorship, the deal includes marketing throughout the stadium, via the team’s marketing and media outlets, and through community events.
