This week’s electrifying Champions League fixtures were lit up by the addition of adidas’ new Crazylight line of boots.
Even though all four of adidas’ boots were given the Crazylight treatment, only two of them, the adiZero Crazylight and the Predator Instinct Crazylight, were on show during this week’s ties.
After wearing the adiZero Crazylight prematurely over the weekend, James Rodriguez gave the ‘world’s lightest boot’ its official debut during his side’s win over Liverpool. Another key adiZero Crazylight man, Gareth Bale, missed Real Madrid’s trip through injury, but will almost certainly switch into the 135 gram boot on his return.
Elsewhere, adiZero Crazylight wearers were few and far between, emphasising the boot’s true status as a limited edition release. David Alaba was one other prominent name that we spotted in the second-generation Crazylight, but most adiZero wearers including the biggest of them all, Lionel Messi, stuck with the ‘regular version’.
The other new boot on show, the Predator Instinct Crazylight was spotted on the feet of Chelsea’s Oscar. Oscar seems to have been the only player who adidas have switched into the Instinct Crazylight, which most notably features adidas’ weight-saving Sprintframe technology.

It will be interesting to see if any other players switch into the Crazylight range in the coming weeks, and more importantly, if the 11Pro and the Nitrocharge editions get any love at all – we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled.
