Among Mexico’s most popular soccer clubs Tigres de la UANL (full name Club de Fútbol Tigres de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León) earned their first piece of silverware since 2011 last week by winning the 2014 Copa MX.
As part of their celebration of becoming Mexico’s cup champion (this is like winning the English FA Cup), Tigres have launched an all white 2014 adidas third kit. The club calls the new shirt their “Jersey de Gala” (loosely translated “Celebration Jersey”). It will serve as an alternate to the Tigres yellow home and blue away kits.
All sponsor logos and adidas brand symbols are in gold on the new jersey to produce a look very similar to the Real Madrid 2011/12 and Swansea City 2012/13 home kits. In fact, the crewneck design used gives the shirt a near identical appearance to what was the Swans Centennial kit worn during their League Cup-winning campaign last season.
Tigres UANL currently features USA senior international José Francisco Torres along with Under-20 national teamer Juan Pablo Ocegueda.
