Brazilian fallen giants Vasco da Gama are set to sign Werder Bremen midfielder Carlos Alberto on loan.
Vasco look poised to bring the 24-year-old in from Werder Bremen as they aim to return to the top flight of the Campeonato Brasileiro after being relegated last month.
Club official Carlos Alberto Lancetta confirmed he expects Carlos Alberto to sign a contract on Sunday, as soon as Vasco and the Bundesliga side agree the duration of the loan and the player passes a medical.
"According to what I've been told, everything has been technically sorted out with Carlos Alberto," said Lancetta.
"It only depends on signing the contract and that will happen tomorrow."
Club president Roberto Dinamite added: "Carlos Alberto would strengthen the Vasco squad even more.
"However, it still depends on agreeing the financial issues."
Carlos Alberto, a European champion with Porto in 2004, had loan spells at Sao Paulo and Botafogo last year.
