Kansas City general manager Peter Vermes reports he is still working on bring in former Argentina star Claudio Lopez, and hints that he is making progress.

The Racing Club veteran forward could well become the team's Designated Player, and new attack focal point with the departure of U.S. international Eddie Johnson to Fulham.

"We're in talks," Vermes told the Kansas City Star. "We're working on an agreement, but nothing’s been signed yet."

"The hope is that he’d be training with us in Argentina."

"Everywhere he’s been, he’s been a winner," stated Vermes. "He hasn't lost a step - he's very quick, which is something we're looking for."
