Argentina playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme has hinted that he finds Boca Juniors teammate Martin Palermo worthy of a  call-up by national team boss Alfio Basile.

The veteran striker recently became the Bombonera side's top all-time scorer, but has not been able to add to his seven international caps since 1999.

"Palermo is the best Argentine #9 in the last 10 years," Riquelme told Ole. "It would not surprise me if he was mentioned for the national team."

"Each match he plays, he scores a goal."
