Mitchell: No More Brennan Calls

In the wake of veteran defender Jim Brennan's decision to suddenly quit international football under his command, Canada Dale Mitchell has countered by declaring there would be no pleading calls from him.
The Toronto FC ace, who had seen some action in previous World Cup 2010 qualifiers, was not selected for their upcoming decisive bouts with Honduras and Mexico and almost immediately announced he would no longer play for Mitchell.
"I think here's somebody who has turned down three call-ups in the last 18 months, but when he doesn't get a call-up, then we get a big song and dance about it," the coach told reporters.
"Jimmy and I have had a few conversations over the last five or six months about his situation here and what was the best way forward - I didn't think we were getting anywhere," continued Mitchell.
"When somebody else comes along after me, then maybe they'll see it a little bit differently, but that was the way I viewed it and felt it was the right time to not (pick him)."
