One of the original ten Major League Soccer teams has a fresh new secondary kit. The Colorado Rapids revealed their latest away kit on Thursday. And like the preceding change kit, this new one focuses on the state of Colorado and its flag. The 2010 MLS Cup winners struggled in 2014, finishing eighth in the Western Conference.
Check out some images of the jersey from the release party.
Colorado’s away kit consists of a mainly golden yellow jersey with blue and red details. A rounded yellow v-neck collar has a red bit at the front. The neck stripe at the inner collar is in solid blue.
The back of the shirt has the number 5280 under the collar in red. This is the number that measures a mile in feet. It also serves as a reference to Denver as the “Mile High City,” as the club plays near the city.
The jersey’s sleeves have the classic adidas three-stripes running from the collar to the shoulders in blue. The thick cuffs at the ends are also in blue. The new MLS badges seen on the sleeves are a monochrome blue with yellow shield outline.
The main attraction that also serves as a running theme now with Rapids jerseys is the embossed design based from Colorado’s state flag, with the C and circle representing the Sun in the middle. The badge also gets a color change for this kit, as blue and red take over the crest. Underneath the team badge is a “Founding Team” tab which is seen when the jersey is turned inside out, and is present on each of the nine existing MLS clubs.
The jocktag at the bottom has Colorado’s state flag. Beneath it is a blue bottom stripe taking up the hem of the jersey. The kit will feature blue shorts with golden yellow trim and blue socks with golden yellow pinhoops with a red 5280 seen across the front.
The 2015/16 Colorado Rapids away kit will be available soon at WorldSoccerShop.com and other fine retailers.
