One of the two best-supported clubs in Mexico (the other is archrivals Chivas), Club America held the launch event for the 2015/16 Nike home and away kits last week at the fabled Estadio Azteca. The event also introduced Chinese company Huawei as Las Aguilas (The Eagles) new primary shirt sponsor.

Club America will wear a 2015/16 Nike home shirt that celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the club’s first ever Mexican Primera Division (now called Liga MX or LIGA Bancomer MX for commercial reasons).

Its main commemorative feature is the use of a lighter shade of yellow than Club America jersey of recent times. The color is the same as that used for America’s 1965/66 home kit. The v-neck of the jersey is also based on that of the now collectible shirt.

While the Club America badge on the jersey is in all dark blue, the team’s secondary color of red is used for the rear of the collar area and sleeve cuffs along with navy blue. A pennant featuring a print of the team’s symbolic eagle is printed on its inside back neck area.

The blue Club America 15/16 Nike away jersey uses the same Nike design as the home kit but with a rounded neckline. Its design celebrates the energy of the players at Las Aguilas highly regarded youth academy – El Academia El Nido.

There is a series of tonal horizontal lines on the front of the away kit that have a gradient effect that leads to a solid blue block of blue towards the bottom. The lighter blue lines at the top of the gradient represents the club’s young players while the darker lines recognize its 89 years of tradition.
