We’ve scoured the pitches of Europe to find all of this week’s best boot spots.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Nike Tiempo Legend
The big boot spot of the week was Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return from injury in a blacked out pair of the Nike Tiempo Legend V. Reports about Ibra’s situation seem to suggest that he has rejected a new contract with the brand and most likely will be joining up with Puma. If true it will be yet another massive blow to Nike who, as we have seen over the past couple of weeks, have lost a number of big names. We will definitely be keeping our eyes firmly fixed on Ibra to see how the situation develops.
Mario Balotelli – Puma evoPower MB45
Mario Balotelli laced up in his special edition Puma evoPower for Liverpool’s huge match against Chelsea. Taking inspiration from the Italian flag with its green/white/red colour scheme, the MB45 are Balo’s second limited edition evoPower and was a seriously limited edition release. Unfortunately for Puma and Liverpool, Balotelli failed to open his Premier League account while wearing the boots as Liverpool fell to a 2-1 defeat.
Hulk – Mizuno Morelia Neo
Hulk gave the bright new Mizuno Morelia Neo colourway its debut this week. The Zenit striker was sporting the red/black/white colourway first during his side’s mid-week European clash and then again at the weekend. A great looking colourway.
Edison Cavani – Nike Mercurial Vapor
While Zlatan moved away from Nike, his teammate Edison Cavani looks to have just joined up with the brand. Cavani had previously been an adidas man, but the fact that he was wearing a personalised pair of the Mercurial Vapor all but confirms that he has made the switch.
Yanick Bolaise – Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly CR7
Yanick Bolaise never fails to disappoint in regards to his boot selection. The Palace winger made the bold decision of wearing Cristiano Ronaldo’s recently released signature Mercurial Vapor Superfly. Bolaise has done an awesome bit of customisation by scratching out the CR lettering on the instep, but leaving 7, the kit number that he shares with Ronaldo. Does that makes this a customised, customised boot?
Francesco Totti – Nike Tiempo Legend
While most seem to not be the biggest fans of the fold-over tongue, Francesco Totti can not seem to get enough of it. Throughout his career, Totti has worn boots with a fold-over tongue and his customised Tiempo Legend V are no exception. Totti had been wearing a blacked out version of the Tiempo IV for a while, but Nike seem to have convinced him to wear the Legend V by adding a fold-over tongue.
Sergio Aguero – Puma evoSpeed
Sergio Aguero made the move into the latest Puma evoSpeed colourway, albeit a couple of days late. While Puma released this latest colourway a couple of weeks back, Gael Clichy was one of the only prominent players to wear the boot last weekend. Aguero switched into the new colourway during mid-week, and then got off to a storming start with them domestically, scoring twice for City against QPR.
Andy Carroll – Nike Hypervenom Phantom
Finally this week, big Andy Carroll made his long-awaited return after four months on the sideline on Sunday. While he’s been out injured the West Ham striker looks to have ended his relationship with Umbro and joined up with Nike. Carroll had previously worn the Umbro Speciali, but now has switched into the Nike Hypervenom Phantom.
