Surprising leaders, return of the BBC, end of unbeaten runs and more. Let’s see what we spotted this week in a brand new edition of Cleat Spotting:

Riyad Mahrez (Leicester City) – Nike Hypervenom Phantom II

Leicester City have recovered the first spot of the Barclays Premier League for the amazement of everyone. The foxes have had an unbeliveable season, and one of the names making the headlines is Riyad Mahrez, the first Algerian player to score a hat-trick in the English top flight. He also has scored and assisted in many other games, and is surely being watched by some big European clubs.

Gareth Bale (Real Madrid) – adidas X 15

The BBC is back, it’s been a while since Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo scored all in the same game. Bale hasn’t had particularly a good season, mostly due to injuries, but he wasin good shape last Saturday and debuted the new Black and White colorway of his X 15 cleats by scoring the third goal of their 4-1 victory against Getafe. Madrid is in need of victories to boost their confidence after a couple of disastrous weeks.

Franck Ribéry (Bayern Munich) – Nike Mercurial Vapor X

Franck Ribéry is finally back from injury, and what a better way to return than scoring a goal? The French winger scored Bayern’s only goal in the rather surprising defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach, which marked the end of their unbeaten league run in the 2015/16 season, leaving Paris Saint-Germain as the only club with no defeats in the top five European leagues this season.

Diego Godín (Atlético Madrid) – Puma evoPOWER 1.2

Diego Godín is one of Atlético Madrid’s most valuable assets, a wall on the back line and a header specialist. Is not too often that we can see Godín score with his feet, but he did against Granada to settle Atlético’s win and get the second place, just two points behind Barcelona.

Mesut Özil (Arsenal) – adidas Ace 15+ Primeknit

Mesut Özil is news once again. The German midefielder continues to be one of the most lethal passers in Europe, summing 12 assists so far and creating more than 60 goal chances (just in the Premier League). He surely seems to enjoy the comfort provided by the Ace 15+ Primeknit cleats, showing everyone how to control the midfield of one of the top teams of the World.

Jesús Navas (Manchester City) – New Balance Furon

Jesús Navas has lost a lot of protagonism when Rahem Sterling entered the scene at Manchester City; the Spaniard hasn’t managed to feature heavily and some say he could leave the club soon. He was given some minutes of play to try and turn the tides while City were trailing 2-0 against Stoke City, a result that ultimately cost them the top of the league. We saw him wearing the classy black and orange New Balance Furon cleats, while teammate Fernando Rees used the Lava and Firebolt Visaros.

That’s it for this week’s cleat spotting. Remember we have Champions League on Tuesday and Wednesday, don’t miss the exciting definition of all the teams who will take part of the round of 16!
