A week full of record breaking, derbies and overall great football brought with it some great boot spots. Here are the best of the lot.
Lionel Messi – adidas f50 adiZero
It would be criminal not to start the boot spotting with Lionel Messi. Leo made history this week by becoming La Liga’s all time top goalscorer with 253 goals. The “greatest player in history” (quite a claim) was wearing his signature f50 adiZero as he scored the record breaking goals. Adidas normally jump on opportunities like this to give Leo a new bespoke colorway in recognition of his achievements, so we will definitely be keeping our eyes peeled.
Tiago Mendes – adidas adiPure 11Pro
Tiago Mendes was one a few players who gave the brand new adiPure 11Pro its debut over the weekend. Adidas will be looking to revive the 11Pro, which by all means has lagged behind the rest of its boots in terms of popularity, with this new addition. A great look combined with a premium k-leather upper could make this the best 11Pro yet.
Esteban Cambiasso – adidas NitroCharge 1.0
Alongside the new adidas adiPure 11Pro, adidas released a new colorway for the NitroCharge. Coming in the same black/white/flash orange as the adiPure, it was debuted by, among others, Esteban Cambiasso. Like the 11Pro, the NitroCharge 1.0 has a surprising lack of high profile players wearing the boot – something that adidas will be looking to remedy.
Xabi Alonso – adidas Predator Instinct
Xabi Alonso looks set to switch into the adiPure 11Pro to beef up the boot’s support. While Alonso was spotted training in the new 11Pro prior Bayern’s weekend match, he switched back into the Predator Instinct for the game. Expect to see the switch finalised before his next match.
Shinji Okazaki – Mizuno Basara
Shinji Okazaki debuted a new colorway for Mizuno’s speed boot, the Basara. Released just before the weekend, we have not heard much of the Basara since. This new colorway is similar to the original one, just in a new bright orange.
Tim Cahill – New Balance
Tim Cahill became the latest Warrior player to switch into the mysterious New Balance boot. The Red Bulls man joins the Marouane Fellaini and Aaron Ramsey on the growing list of players we have spotted in the mystery boot.
Mile Jedinak – adidas Predator Instinct
Palace’s Mile Jedinak scored a great free kick in his side’s great win against Liverpool. Jedinak was wearing the Supernatural colorway of the Predator Instinct, released just before Halloween. Interestingly enough, we have not seen a big switch over to the glow in the dark Hunt pack released last week.
Eniola Aluko – Umbro Geoflare
Finally this week England and Chelsea forward Enila Aluko was spotted in the ‘Scuba Blue’ Umbro Geoflare against Germany. Released back in October we have not seen much of this new colorway at all, especially since very few top-flight players wear the Geoflare.
