Steven Gerrard – adidas Predator Instinct
It was an emotional afternoon for Steven Gerrard as the Liverpool legend played his last home game. Adidas did their bit to honour the former England captain by creating a bespoke Predator Instinct colourway specially for the occasion. Featuring ‘YNWA’ on the heel and a suitably red and white upper we imagine this is a cleat that Stevie G will cherish for a long, long time.
Paul Pogba – Nike Magista Obra
How many cleats does Paul Pogba own? A week after debuting a (then) new customised pair of the Magista Obra, the Juventus star switched into yet another brand new colourway. Rumour has it that far from being one of his own creations, this Magista is Nike’s next colourway for the silo. Lets see if he sticks with it.
Rodrigo de Paul – Puma evoSpeed
Rodrigo de Paul was spotted in a blacked out version of the Puma evoSpeed. Make distinctive because of the non-blacked out sole plate, we imagine that de Paul has switched into these because his deal with Puma has run out. The Argentine had stopped wearing ‘fully-fledged’ versions of Puma’s speed cleat back in February, but has only recently switched to a full black out of it after initially keeping the red laces.
Luca Toni – Lotto Stadio Potenza
Veteran striker Luca Toni switched into a new signature Lotto Stadio Potenza this weekend. Now plying his trade at Helias Verona, Toni had previously worn another signature blue/white colourway. Toni is one of Lotto’s most prolific players so its no surprise to see him receiving the brunt of their attention.
Kelley O’Hara – Under Armour Clutchfit
USWNT wingback, Kelley O’Hara continued her trend of being her side’s sole Under Armour representative. O’Hara was wearing the Under Armour Clutchfit, the brand’s ultra comfortable lightweight offering. With the recent release of the Speedform we wonder if we’ll see O’Hara switching into UA’s latest offering for the World Cup?
Mystery Man – adidas f50 adiZero
Though we couldn’t identity this mystery man, we had to include him in this week’s cleat spotting simply because we don’t see all that many professionals in this cleat anymore. Released at the tail end of last year, the adiZero Hunt is one the more unique offerings we’ve seen from adidas, primarily because it glows in the dark. A cool release that, we must confess, pales in comparison now that we’ve seen Nike’s heat-activated Hypervenom Transform.
Marouaine Fellaini – New Balance
New Balance have kept us waiting all season. The brand, formerly known as Warrior, have ever so slowly been revealing its ‘first’ line of cleats and this weekend gave us another clue at what is to come. United’s Marouaine Fellaini wore a pair of its cleats with the word ‘Make’ on the all-white upper. What exactly it means we have no idea, but hopefully we’ll find out soon?!
Hecter Moreno – adidas Nitrocharge 1.0
Finally this week, Hecter Moreno has done an epic black-out job on his ‘Haters Pack’ Nitrocharge. The Espanyol man has blacked out a majority of the upper, save for the blue laces, soleplate and the toe area. We’re always appreciative of a good black-out and this is no different, especially as it goes well with the Espanyol kit.
That does it for this week’s cleat spotting! See something we missed? Let us know in the comments section below
