Brazil will have a new look at the World Cup this summer. Nike surprised many fans with the unveiling of a dark green with yellow accents third kit. The color is inspired by the country’s lush landscape and urban nightlife.
The jersey is a solid dark green with the yellow accents on the team badge and Nike swoosh. It is designed for the various climates that the team will face in their home country. The dual-knit fabric is made from cotton and recycled polyester and provides great moisture wicking. Nike has strategically placed laser-cut ventilation holes on the jersey to keep players at an ideal temperature.
Following suit for the home jersey, the crew collar has an illustration on the inside of the collar. Bruno Big, a Rio de Janeiro designer, created the design that shows a hand with in a ‘figa’ position. The ‘figa’ is the Brazilian equivalent of the fingers crossed superstition and thought to bring good luck.
The shorts are the same dark green but include blue/green/yellow hoop pinstripes in tribute to the national flag along with the team badge and Nike swoosh in yellow. The shorts immediately jump out as they are longer and baggier than most soccer shorts and are a tribute to the surfing culture, another popular sport in Brazil.
The dark green socks compete the look.
