After the release of the highly anticipated Arsenal collection, Puma is once more in the spotlight with the unveiling of the new Borussia Dortmund kits. This is the third of a projected eight-year partnership between BVB and PUMA, and this year brings us one of the most daring designs among the 2014/2015 season kits launched so far.

The German team is looking to keep the good run they have enjoyed since joining the PUMA team, a period which began with a league and cup double for Dortmund. Since then they have recorded two 2nd place finishes in the Bundesliga, and a Champions League runners-up trophy. In their efforts to overhaul Bayern Munich next season they have added Ciro Immobile to spearhead an attack that already boasts Marco Reus, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jakub Błaszczykowski.

The new home shirts are in Dortmund’s traditional yellow, however the distinguishing feature is the black diagonal stripes that run down the right side of the chest and the left sleeve. It’s a fresh, dynamic and rebellious look that makes the Dortmund jersey stand out from the crowd.

On the front of the shirt is the club emblem and the PUMA logo in black, and the jersey sponsor Evonik in dark red and grey. The shirt has a rounded collar, and inside the back of the neck are the words ‘Echte Liebe’, which translates as ‘True Love’. The shirt also features a black trim on the bottom of each sleeve, and a black PUMA logo just above.

The new away jersey is black with thin yellow pinstripes, with a simpler look than that of the home shirt. There are further splashes of yellow with the shirt cuffs, the PUMA logo on each sleeve, and the PUMA logo and club badge on the front of the shirt. The Evonik logo remains dark red and grey, whilst the words ‘Echte Liebe’ stay on the inside back of the neck, this time in Yellow.

Marco Reus had this to say on the new jerseys: “I was always so excited about the launch of the new jerseys. The extraordinary design with diagonal stripes radiates for me dynamism and a certain aggressiveness of the high level of functionality that is ideal for the sporting customized needs of our players. A strong jersey for an exciting season”.
