Boise State’s Albertsons Stadium is one of the most recognizable fields in the U.S. if not the world. The blue playing surface has been called ‘The Blue Plastic Tundra’ by ESPN’s Chris Berman, the ‘Smurf Turf’ by fans, and a more respectful ‘The Blue’ by players.
The field is getting a facelift, however, with a natural grass field recently installed. But don’t worry the jokes about the field during football season will be back.
A natural grass field at Albertsons Stadium, known also as Bronco Stadium, is being installed to host the soccer match between Spain’s Athletic Bilbao and Mexico’s Tijuana on Saturday. The transformation took 6 days but check out the time lapse video of the change-over in just under 1 ½ minutes.
