The most modern feature in the 42,000 all-seater is the luxury seating included in one stand with TVs on the back of each seat that ties into the StadiumVision technology providing a multimedia experience for fans.  Those without the feature on their seat can turn to screens located throughout the stadium or utilize their own digital device through the high-speed Wi-Fi available throughout the stadium.

Special lounge sky-boxes are available, 90 degree views, multiple restaurants, the Besiktas Museum and Besiktas’ store, ’Eagles’ Nest,’ the biggest sportswear store in Turkey, will be located in the stadium.

The players will have a first-rate experience as well.  The pitch is 3.5 meters below sea level and the field has a hybrid grass, a first in Turkey.  A rainwater collection system will be used to water the pitch.  And solar energy will assist in electricity needs.

The grand opening was attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, state officials, former politicians, sports celebrities, players and coaches.

“Beşiktaş are a people’s team,” Beşiktaş President Fikret Orman said. “The people’s president will open the people’s team’s stadium today. I want to thank President Erdoğan for attending our opening ceremony and supporting the construction of this wonderful stadium. If the president had not supported us, we could never have built this stadium. The colosseum style of the stadium is inspired by our president. Mr. President you are the secret hero of this new stadium. Beşiktaş fans will never forget you.”

The opening game was not without incidence, however, with police firing tear gas on fans outside the venue but the game was the only focus once the opening whistle blew.  Baris Simek, who refereed the last game at the old Inonu Stadium almost 3 years ago was back to call the opening game of the new stadium.
