Well-represented in this season’s UEFA Champions League by six players from FC BATE Borisov, Belarus will be in the international spotlight in November when they meet reigning European champion Spain in a UEFA UERO 2016 qualifier. Three days later they will host CONCACAF power Mexico in a friendly.
The Football Federation of Belarus and adidas recently unveiled the new home and away kits that their national teams at all levels will wear during the 2014 to 2016 period. The white home uniform made its debut when the men’s national team met Ukraine and Slovakia during the October round of EURO 2016 qualifying.
The Belarus 2014/15 home kit uses a new adidas template that is highlighted by a v-neck and contrasting colors on its shoulder. The away jersey uses the adidas Trio 13 design that the German firm has assigned to several of the smaller European federations that it has partnerships with.
Both kits uses a modern cursive font for player names and numbers is quite different from most of the other blocky fonts used for football shirts this season.
Regarded as minnows among Europe’s football nations, Belarus is ranked 106th in the world by FIFA. Their best known player of recent years is former Arsenal and FC Barcelona midfielder Alexander Hleb.
