Odell Beckham Jr is one of the hottest receivers in the NFL and what may surprise some is that he has a soccer background. The New York Giants receiver was recently in the UK and spent some time with one of Tottenham’s goalkeepers, American Brad Friedel.
“I’m impressed when these guys catch anything, especially when they run across the middle with guys coming to smash you,” Friedel told SkySports. “I don’t think people understand how big the guys are that play NFL.”
The wide receiver had his picture taken with an customized Tottenham jersey sent out on Twitter earlier today.

Beckham Jr grew up in New Orleans and was on the radar of U.S. Soccer even as a young teenager before he fully committed to the gridiron.
“I played seriously until I was about 13 or 14 then the (US) national team wanted me to try out for it,” Beckham Jr. told the Star-Ledger in the summer. “It’s just so much for a young kid to have to decide that. You’d have to leave your family. But I always played in the premiere leagues. I was 11 playing U-14, stuff like that. I was always playing up.”
The 22-year-old is one of a growing number of NFL players known to take part in an old soccer tradition, trading jerseys after a match.
