Bayern Munich’s World Cup stars where given an extended break after completing their national team responsibilities in Brazil but joined the team in Portland as the Bundesliga champions prepared to play the Major League All Stars last Wednesday.
The World Cup stars were greeted by 800+ adidas employees and fans who lined the streets to see the group arrive and greeted them with a banner saying, ‘adidas welcomes world cup stars to soccer city, usa.’
The 6 Germans – Bayern Munich and Germany captain Philipp Lahm, Thomas Muller, Manuel Neuer, Mario Götze, Jérôme Boateng, and Bastian Schweinsteiger, and the Netherlands’ Arjen Robben took the adidas America headquarters by storm checking out the facilities, meeting with fans, and talking to the press.
adidas was the showcase of the weekend and took over Portland. The 3-Stripes is the major sponsor of MLS as well as Bayern Munich and the German national team.
The adidas Village lives soccer 365 days a year. It includes a giant sculpture of the Predator Instinct Battle Pack cleat as well as a training field used by employees.
Bayern Munich is preparing for the 2014/15 Bundesliga campaign. They are the 2-time defending champions and eager to be fit and focused for a run at a three-peat. The team played 2 matches on their U.S. tour. They defeated Chivas Guadalajara 1-0 and lost 2-1 to the MLS All Stars.
