AS Roma and Nike Soccer have unveiled their new away jersey for the upcoming 2016/17 season, featuring a bespoke design inspired by the club’s proud heritage.
To celebrate the club’s 90th anniversary, the Lupetto (Wolf) badge has been brought back in a circle with yellow and red trim. This crest was used as main logo from 1978 until 1996, and won a special spot in the Roma fans’ hearts. The body of the jersey is painted in marble white to represent Rome’s unique and famous historic architecture.
Red accents are used to adorn the crew neck, which holds the club’s name on its back. Nike Swoosh is placed on the right chest, at the same height as the wolf crest, and the front of the shirt features no sponsor and creates a clean and classy look.
The sides of the jersey have red stripes that run the length of the shirt to connect with the ones on the marble white shorts. These stripes reveal an inner yellow layer while in movement, and also maximize ventilation to keep players dry and cool during the games.
The uniform is completed by dark white socks with red detailing, including a geometric pattern of lines on their back to accentuate speed. Expect to see AS Roma players wearing the new kit during their preseason tour which includes two fixtures on American soil: Liverpool on August 1st and Montreal Impact on August 3rd.
AS Roma 2016/17 away jersey will be available at World Soccer Shop on July 28th.
