Convey ready to boost Royals
2008-04-09 16:01:00

Winger Bobby Convey is ready to boost Reading's Premier League survival hopes following his return to fitness.

Convey made his first-team return in last Saturday's 3-0 loss to Newcastle after overcoming a troublesome knee injury.

Reading currently find themselves in a fierce battle to avoid relegation as they sit six points above the drop zone.

And Convey has urged manager Steve Coppell to involve him in The Royals' run-in, starting with Saturday's vital encounter against Fulham.

"Hopefully in the next few games, starting this weekend, I can have more of an impact in a game," he told the Reading Evening Post.

"If the manager makes changes, I am ready. He knows what I can and can't do. I'm 100 per cent ready and tired of sitting around not doing much.

"I want the responsibility to play in one of the biggest and most important games this season.

"Fulham is the most important game of the season. There is no bigger test. It is a massive three points and if we get them, it puts them out of it."

Meanwhile, Convey's team-mate Liam Rosenior has backed Reading - currently on 32 points - to reach the 40-point mark.

"One win might be enough for us, but I still want 40 points. If we get that then we are guaranteed to stay up," he said.

"I am actually upset we are in this position because I think we are good enough to be in the top 10."
